Co:Create Ink is a unique, curated NFT marketplace designed to help tattoo artists promote and sell their work in a similar way to fine artists, whilst offering their followers access to certified pieces of their art and more opportunities to get each piece tattooed.

This was an early concept of the Studios team at Co:Create where I've led design across product, marketing and brand from the beginning. Over the course of a few months, I designed a two-sided marketplace with end to end experiences for both artists and collectors, alongside designing and building our marketing site and all the assets used as we launched our initial site to sign-up artists, a waitlist for collectors and the iterations of our homepage since.
Overview
A view of an individual tattoo artist's gallery page, providing collectors a quick insight into the artist and who they are, before highlighting their work for sale and showcasing all the tattoos they've produced. As collectors scroll down the page, they're able to learn more about the artist, their background, how they work and more.
Objective *//
Support tattoo artists & help better promote the Art they create
Build a platform that Bridges the gap between The fine art & tattoo industries
rethink tattoos as a service by creating a brand loved by both artists & their communities
Tattoo Gallery
Showcasing all the tattoos from every artist across the platform, including tattoos available for purchase or at auction, tattoos that have been sold and redeemed (in-person for a real tattoo), tattoos only exist as a digital piece of art & more.
NFT Membership pass
To coincide with the initial launch of the site during Art Basel, we worked alongside Onda Studios to create an NFT that would be air-dropped to those on the waitlist to give them early access to the platform. View on OpenSea
Early direction
Before we had artists join the platform to start selling their tattoos, we needed creative assets to help promote the concept and communicate our idea to both potential artists and collectors. We created the florals above, using hand-drawn assets (and calling on traditional tattoos such as roses) to provide a neutral base for the brand.
Tattoo Gallery filtering
Providing collectors a way to search for the tattoo they're looking for, both within the individual artist's gallery & the platform gallery (showcasing all tattoos).
Personal
reflection *//
As someone with no tattoos and very little knowledge of the industry, this project was a challenge from the start. I knew whatever we built had to feel authenticate to the space and had to intertwine both our business's goals with the expectations of the tattoo industry. With that, I started by conducting surveys and participating in co-design sessions with other team members and tattoo artists. These were critical in helping us lay the product's foundation and helping me absorb as much information as I could whilst exploring the tattoo world for the first time.
Marketing Site
We created a launch video to coincide with the general release of Sneaks, continuing to highlight the experience, whilst still connecting the product back to the APIs and contracts we used throughout. (Since this video was posted by Co:Create and it's purpose was to showcase their APIs, we maintained their brand consistency for the cover).
The brand was designed to feel authenticate to the tattoo industry, but to also help elevate the artists' work & mimic the feeling of entering an art gallery. This intentionally meant Co:Create Ink itself needed to be secondary to the artwork being showcased, keeping the focus on the tattoos and not the brand. (This was true across all platforms, from the app to socials and our newsletter). Knowing each artist has their own unique style, our brand also needed to be flexible, to both successfully showcase their work side by side and to allow each artist's individual style to be at the forefront of their own galleries. As we scale, this will remain important though so far, it's be a pleasure to hear artists' feedback and see them opt to share our content and assets we've created freely.
Impact & outcomes *//
Created a brand & experience that successfully bridged the gap between high-end art, & tattoos
Had 2,000+ signups for the waitlist prior to launch
Ideated, designed & built the platform end-to-end, within a few months

Part of the tattoo creation flow, where artists upload and edit the tattoo information before it's created & available for sale to the public.
Social Media
A selection of social media assets we created for the initial launch phase, where we were appealing to both artists and collectors through teaching the platform's core features and differentiators.
